Hail to the Chiefs
I never know who among my blog visitors is Without Face. That is to say, Facebook-less. So, apologies if you already saw these pix over in Facebookland. For the rest, these are digital zoom shots of : 1) A Presidential Sandwich, filled with a Vice President; 2) Bill Clinton Still Looking (and sounding) Good. These are shots I took at Friday’s memorial service for Sen. Robert C. Byrd.
Desk Job
Technical and upload issues kept me working way too late at the Charleston Gazette office last night, while producing a video on the Byrd memorial at the state Capitol Complex in Charleston, W.Va. As the sole occupant in the darkened newsroom as I finally got the sucker uploaded, I turned around to snatch an intimate portrait of my desk in post-production disarray. Below, my ecosystem in the cubicle farm in dashing chiaroscuro. | click photos bigger
Bagpiping up
I’m a sucker for bagpipes, perhaps because my mother’s mother was a member of Scotland’s Cameron clan. In a former life, I likely went down in the highlands as the bagpipes played and I breathed my last for the old sod. Or something. That’s why the bagpiper at Friday’s memorial service for Sen. Robert C. Byrd, positioned dramatically on a ledge of the state Capitol Complex, was one of the highlights for me. Click here to see the video I produced for the Gazette about this ceremony, which featured presidents Obama and Clinton, Vice President Biden, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and others. And to hear this guy tattoo the air.
